The State Tournament will be held at East Lansing High School.
Welcome to the 2019 Pioneer Men's Water Polo Season
Practices start Wednesday, August 14th at 9am at the Hill Pool at Pioneer. Student/Athletes should bring a suit, towel and goggles to the first practice.
The entire practice schedule and lots of other information can be found on phspolo.com. If your vacation necessitates starting later than August 14th, that's not a problem. Just let Don (email@example.com) know when you will be back.
Not sure if Pioneer Polo is for your child? Have him come give it a try! No experience necessary! Most kids don't play water polo before their 9th grade year. Our experienced coaching staff will teach your child all he needs to learn and excel at the fast-paced game of water polo.
Before your student/athlete can practice or play in games, he must be registered with the Pioneer Athletic Department and pay the Pay-To-Participate through the AAPS Rec. and Ed. Department. Here is the link to the Pioneer Athletic Department site that outlines the steps you need to follow to be registered. There will be an additional team fee that will be collected by the water polo parent booster club to offset costs not covered by Pioneer. Scholarships for both fees are available. Email Don (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you want to request a scholarship.
Our coaching staff is comprised of the following experienced coaches:
Don Packard - Pioneer alum (1983) and Pioneer Water Polo head coach from 1987-2001.
Evan Reynolds - Pioneer alum (2009) and Pioneer Water Polo JV coach since 2016.
Jesse Deucher - Community alum (2017) and current Pioneer swim-dive assistant coach.
Sabrina Hartwell - Skyline alum (2015) and starting goalie at Hartwick College in New York.
Our first tournament is the 1st annual Pioneer Varsity B tournament on August 17th @ Pioneer high school. The night before the tournament, we'll have a purple/white scrimmage so parents can learn to use our timing system, score sheets and public address system. More details about volunteering will be available soon.
August 19th we will have a parent meeting for returning and new parents. It's a great time to hear from the coaches, captains and captains' parents. We will start at 6pm in the Little Theater at Pioneer.
Michigan Stadium Seat Cushion Fundraiser begins August 17th and 18th and is a great way for you and your son to earn money for our team and help the greater Pioneer community. More information can be found HERE. Signups will be forthcoming in a separate email. Thanks in advance for volunteering your time.
