Dear Water Polo Community,
This week is dead week - no practice during the week. There is a pool clean up that will be organized this Saturday - more details will be sent out by the captains through the group chat.
Next week - practices will be late in the day due to the overlap with the Men's Swim and Dive team practices and Synchronized Swimming - expect the schedule for 7:00-9:00pm evening practices (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), Friday 4:00-6:00pm, no weekday morning practices and Saturday from 8:00-10:00am.
The big fundraising event for next week is the Spring Milk Drive at Busch's Green Street Store - this will be the first year the Women's Water Polo will be participating. The swimmers on the team have participated in the fall and hopefully can help lend their experience to make this a fun and fruitful fundraiser for the team.
The sign up genius will follow in a separate email - but I am attaching the excel sheet with the schedule the team chose in order to avoid conflict with the Early Bird Tournament. The first shifts start this Monday and will be 4-7pm during the week and there will be two shifts during the day on Saturday and Sunday. A minimum of one person is required per shift and no more than 2. Please have your athletes check their schedule and decide which shift they can cover. The team will receive $1500 for this drive and compete for an additional $500 if they are the leading area store for donations. All 10 shifts must be covered by the athletes in order to receive the stipend. There are 20 spots to fill. Instructions for the Milk drive are also attached.
Please advertise on your social network to help drive traffic to the store and increase the chance of milk and/or monetary donations.
If you have not filled out the player registration form and handed in your fee - please see the attached form - you can get this to one of the captains or scan the filled out form and send back to this email.
Have a good week and Go Pio!
The schedule for team practices this week is as follows:
Tuesday and Thursday morning - 6am-7am.
Looking ahead to the start of the regular season practice - the practices during the first week of the season, ie. March 9-March 13 will be held in the late evening due to the overlap of the season with men's swimming and synchronized swimming. More information will be sent regarding the schedule as the pool schedule becomes clearer.
The Busch's Milk drive is slated for the two weeks in March - March 9-March 22nd at the Green St. Store. A sign up for the shifts will be coming out in the following week. The team will be receiving a $1500 stipend with the opportunity to earn an additional $500 if the store has the highest donations among the area stores. It will help if everyone posts the event on their social media and among friends to encourage additional traffic to the store during this time period to increase our chances of success. The girls will be basically encouraging shoppers to donate milk or money at the checkout that will go to the local food bank. All the area Busch stores will be participating with area teams supporting the milk drive. The Milk drive is sponsored by United Dairy Association.
On another front for fundraising - please find the ad book form and the donation form. Please consider asking your local businesses to support the team - real estate agents, orthodontist, dentists, doctors, local café, gym, hair salon, etc as well as your employer. Quite a lot of companies offer matching gifts to local community organizations and maybe your company has a program that you can tap into for support. Consider any family and friends who may also be interested in supporting the team through donations.
Each person will get a 1/4 page ad for their athlete and if any family would like to upgrade to a larger ad, you can do so through the donation page - we will also list all families who donate above the team fee, in the ad program.
These two fundraising streams are the team's two largest fundraising initiatives during the season. All ads and donations are due March 17th to allow for the program to be created and printed in time for the first tournament.
Also, Senior poster pictures will be scheduled for Sunday practice at 4:30. Please bring your team suit for the photograph.
Team pictures and head photos will be arranged once all the team suits are available. It will likely be the first or second week of practice.
Have a great week!
